About This Practice
Before a difficult conversation, eat something warm and simple — a few dates, a small bowl of warm kichari, or a cup of warm milk with cardamom.
Charaka links depleted agni and unstable vata/pitta to distorted response; steady nourishment lets ojas support the body so the conversation is about the topic, not the deficit.
ॐ
How to Practice
- Notice the conversation is coming; allow 5 to 10 minutes before it.
- Choose something warm, simple, and already prepared — dates, warm kichari, warm spiced milk.
- Eat sitting; do not scroll or rehearse during the meal.
- Drink a small amount of warm water after.
- Take three slow breaths before entering the conversation.
✦
Benefits
- Reduces reactivity driven by depletion rather than disagreement
- Stabilizes agni and ojas before emotional exposure
- Gives the body 'enough' before the relationship is asked for 'more'
