Before the next ordinary household act — the diaper, the dish, the reply — take one conscious breath. That breath is the practice. The act carries it.

Householders are told to find practice in silence, but silence is rarely on offer. The Gita's karma yoga says any ordinary act, done with attention, is the work. One breath, once, before the next small task. The small task becomes the practice.

ॐ
  1. Notice you are about to do the next small thing.
  2. Stop for one breath before starting. One full in, one full out.
  3. Begin the task.
  4. Do not add a second breath or a longer pause. One is the whole practice.
  5. Repeat through the day as often as you remember.
