"Today, I ask for a clear mind, not just a quiet one."
The Sankalp
I bring my scattered thoughts to Ganapati, lord of the ganas, and ask for the clarity that knows how to sort what matters from what doesn't.
Why This Matters
Ganapati names him lord of the ganas — the hosts, the categories, the many. Tradition reads this first at the literal level — lord of Shiva's attendant hosts — and, through the Atharvashirsha's own language ('you are of the nature of knowledge, of discriminative realization'), as lord over the mind's own power to order and distinguish. A prayer to Ganapati, in this reading, is a request for buddhi — the faculty that sorts — and not only for the feeling of calm.

How to Live This Today
- Before deciding something today, name the two or three things actually competing for your attention.
- Ask what genuinely matters most right now, rather than what is loudest.
- Sort before you act, even briefly.
- Notice the difference between a quiet mind and a clear one.
Benefits
- Sharper daily decisions
- Less mental clutter
- A practical use for a quiet mind
- Clarity that supports action, not only calm
