"I Choose Clearer Seeing"

The Sankalp

I set aside assumptions today and look at what is actually in front of me.

Viveka is the capacity to perceive clearly — to see things as they are rather than as habit, hope, or fear colors them. It is called the most essential spiritual faculty in the Advaita and Sankhya traditions alike because all wise action depends on accurate perception. The practice of clearer seeing begins the moment you become willing to be surprised by reality.

✦
  1. Before acting, ask: am I seeing this clearly, or through the filter of what I want to see?
  2. Clearer seeing is a discipline — it requires slowing the first impression.
  3. What you see clearly, you respond to wisely.
  • Accurate perception
  • Better choices
  • Reduced error from bias
