"I Discern Change From Presence"

Daily Sankalp · Mitra v3.0 Stub · Beginner
The Sankalp

I ask whether what I am feeling calls for action or simply for being present.

Viveka is the tool that distinguishes between two things that often look similar: the impulse to change something, and the call to simply witness it without interference. Sakshi-bhava — the witness stance — makes this discernment possible by giving you a moment of space between experience and response. Not everything that arises needs to be fixed.

✦
  1. Ask: is this change I need to make, or is this something I need to be present for?
  2. Not every difficulty requires action — some require witness.
  3. Discerning the difference is Viveka at its most practical.
  • Right response to difficulty
  • Reduced interference
  • Clarity of role
