"I Do Not Abandon Duty In Fear"

Daily Sankalp · Mitra v3.0 Stub · Beginner
The Sankalp

I meet what is asked of me today without retreating into fear.

Abhayam — fearlessness — is not the absence of anxiety but the refusal to let anxiety make the final decision. The Gita warns against abandoning one's svadharma out of dread, calling it a lower form of renunciation. Holding duty steady in the face of fear is one of the most grounding acts available to us — it builds the kind of self-trust that accumulates over a lifetime.

✦
  1. When fear suggests walking away from what is yours to do, ask: is this wisdom or avoidance?
  2. Fear is a signal, not a verdict — it does not get to decide your duty.
  3. The action taken despite fear is the one that builds real strength.
  • Courage in duty
  • Self-respect
  • Dharmic integrity
