"I Stop Before Contempt Enters"

Daily Sankalp · Mitra v3.0 Stub · Beginner
The Sankalp

I catch myself before contempt has a chance to take root.

Akrodha — freedom from anger — is less about never feeling frustration and more about not letting anger harden into contempt. Contempt, unlike anger, corrodes the possibility of repair. Atma-nigraha, self-restraint, is the inner discipline that creates enough space between feeling and expression to keep the relationship salvageable.

✦
  1. Notice when irritation starts tipping into contempt — that edge is the threshold.
  2. Contempt is the end of real contact; stop before it arrives.
  3. Withdrawing early is far better than speaking from that place.
  • Preserved relationship
  • Reduced harm
  • Integrity in conflict
