"Today, I receive the gratitude of those the work has served."
The Sankalp
A thank-you arrived from someone my work reached — I let it in fully, without deflection, and I offer it onward.
Why This Matters
Seva-register joy × work. Gītā 18.46 teaches sva-karmaṇā tam abhyarcya — by one's own work, one worships the Source of all beings. The thank-you received is not a payment to the self; it is a completed circuit. Letting it in is itself an act of devotion, and offering it onward keeps the circuit open rather than hoarding the moment.
✦
How to Live This Today
- When thanked, pause before deflecting.
- Let the words land in the body for one breath.
- Offer the thanks onward — to a teacher, to the craft itself, to what made the work possible.
- Allow the exchange to complete without becoming identity.
Benefits
- Reduced reflex-deflection of thanks
- Integration of being-of-service as identity
- Joy moves through the worker rather than sticking
- Seva register keeps ego from inflating
