"Withdraw Before Reacting"

Daily Sankalp · Mitra v3.0 Stub · Beginner
The Sankalp

I step back from the trigger and consciously choose a better response.

Pratipaksha-bhavana is the yogic practice of deliberately cultivating the opposite of a disturbing thought or impulse — not suppression, but conscious redirection. Kshama, patience, creates the pause in which that redirection becomes possible. Withdrawing before reacting is not passivity; it is the disciplined interruption of a habitual chain.

✦
  1. When you feel the reaction rising, physically or mentally step back first.
  2. The pause is the practice — everything depends on it.
  3. Return only when you can return as yourself, not as the reaction.
  • Prevention of harm
  • Composure
  • Cleaner re-engagement
