Gayatri Short Form
oṃ tat savitur vareṇyaṃ
A Savitar invocation fragment from Rigveda 3.62.10 (Pada 1). This is the opening pada of the verse whose complete three-pada form is the Gayatri Mantra; chanted alone, it functions as a brief Savitar (Solar) invocation evoking the luminous source of inner clarity. It is not itself a shorter Gayatri — the full Gayatri requires the complete verse and its vyāhṛtis. Suited as a preparatory invocation before meditation on Savitar, the impeller of wisdom.
This opening pada of the Gayatri establishes its foundation — Tat Savitur, the divine light of the sun. Used as a brief invocation before any work requiring intelligence, it orients the mind toward clarity rather than cleverness, toward truth rather than mere argument.
